The purpose of this course is to enable students to write critical essays on selected short stories by Spanish and Latin American masters utilizing the basic tools of literary analysis. Students will learn to analyze the structure of a text and to comment about plot, characterization, symbolism, point of view, focalization and other rhetorical elements. Students will also learn to find secondary sources and incorporate them into their analytical papers.
