Marian Arkin

Marian ArkinI have been teaching in the English Department at LaGuardia Community College for 36 years. My Ph.D. is in Comparative Literature and my fields of specialization have ranged from post-colonial literature and women’s literature to writing and pedagogy. I founded the LaGuardia Writing Center and have directed it for over 30 years. In that time the Writing Center has grown from a small operation with 8 tutors to a major college support service with nearly 30 tutors and a computer laboratory. I am currently very involved in faculty development at LaGuardia. I direct the CUNY Writing Fellows program, co-direct the Writing in the Disciplines program and I am a faculty leader of the Designed for Learning program, a program of faculty seminars on integrating technology into the curriculum.
