This group of courses (and its related trip) is the newest offering In LaGuardia’s "Cultures of the World" series. As such, it looks, in depth, at the art, history, literature, science, music, and social structures of this fascinating region, where Spanish Mexican culture was layered atop Native American culture and, only relatively recently, Anglo culture atop both. The aim of the program is to give participants a significant, thorough understanding of a culture other than their own. Throughout the courses, cross cultural comparisons to other American regional cultures will be used as a means of illuminating sameness and difference across American cultures.
