Hello and Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my site! This is actually my faculty web page that I have created to showcase my portfolio. Hopefully you will find it to be interesting. Enjoy!
Who am I?
I was born on Christmas day of 1978 in a small place of Sylhet (Bangladesh) called “Tati Para”. After my birth my father decided to move to the Capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, and we lived there since then. On September 1998, I came to the United States of America for higher education. Currently I’m living in New York, the busiest city in the world!
I graduated from F.H. LaGuardia Community College with an Associate in Applied Science Degree (Programming and Systems; Dean's List) in 2001 and from New York City College of Technology with a Bachelors of Technology Degree (Networking, Programming and Web Design; Honors Roll: MAGNA CUM LAUDE) in 2004.
I was a computer-dumb person before coming to the States. Through my college courses and my growing interests, I learned a lot. Some of my friends now call me a computer genius. I’d rather say I’m a computer geek. I know how to use various computer applications; such as: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe ImageReady, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and FrontPage), Microsoft Works, Word Perfect, Macromedia Studio (Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks), Netscape Composer, Swish and Swift 3D. I can work with Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla FireFox, and Opera. I am experienced with Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP, NT 4.0 and MS-DOS. I learned Visual Basic 6.0, Visual C++ 6.0 and Oracle 8.0 as my course requirements. Currently I’m working as an Instructional Design Consultant in LaGuardia Center for Teaching and Learning.
Although I am not the one to describe myself as a person, but I can give you a glimpse of what I am like. I am a man of my words. If I say something I try my best to follow it. I have my own morals and rules of living, which I follow. I do not smoke or take drugs but I drink occasionally. We are born only once so why waste it on worthless stuff? I am a very obsessive person when it comes to loved ones. I hate people who lie and con their way to success. I enjoy challenges, at work or in life. I always dream of a simple but happy life and one day hopefully I will be able to make my dream come true.
My first priority is my family. I love my family more than anything. I like anything that has life in it. I enjoy listening to music but I strongly prefer alternative rock music. I hate ghetto music and music that contains nothing but gibberish lyrics about sex and guns. I like reading books; Bengali novels, science fictions and science books/magazines.
My goal is not to be the best, but I want to stand aside from all the others and become a unique person.
World peace through non-violent means is neither absurd nor unattainable. All other methods have failed. Thus we must begin anew. Those of us who believe in this method can be voices of reason, sanity and understanding amid the voices of violence, hatred and emotion. We can very well set a mood of peace out of which a system of peace can be built. Racial injustice around the world. Poverty. War. When man solves these three great problems he will have squared his moral progress with his scientific progress. And more importantly, he will have learned the practical art of living in harmony.
--Martin Luther King, Jr., "DREAMS OF BRIGHTER TOMORROWS" (March 1965)
