way. It has become an actual social environment that has different
influences according to the different decades. Here are the experts:
Ana is a fashion designer; Ileana a make-up designer; Pedro a musician;
Daniel a teen psychologist and of course, I’m going to talk
about T.V as a former actor. Daniel, Pedro, Ana, and Ileana talk
about their subject

Teenagers - Daniel
(An Je) Min
Many people don't believe that teenagers create
pop culture. They are most often the type of people who will quickly
and easily buy into fads. However, if they didn't approve of these
fads they would quickly and most certainly die out. When an artist
comes out with a new CD often, since teenagers are most likely to
be the ones that are listening to it on the radio, they are the
first ones to end up buying it. Teenagers only hear the one song
because that's all the radio plays.
Now a day most of teenagers follow what is popular
because they are generally ones who discover new trends, clothing,
music and different hair style. For example, a teen boy wears a
pair of jeans with a North Face jacket and listens to hip hop music,
while changing his hair style like Beckam, the soccer player in
England. Not only the appearance aspect do they discover, also the
way of speaking, sport, and dancing.
There are many influences in pop culture for teenagers.
These influences include music, movies, fashion, and celebrities.
Many of these influences have a positive affect on teenagers that
watch, listen, or wear the products. A positive influence could
be as simple as making somebody feels good about themselves. Positive
musicians, movies, and celebrities give teenagers someone respectable
to look up to. However, not all influences in pop culture are positive
for them. There are many influences that are negative. Negative
influences include violence, inappropriate lyrics, and celebrities
that set a bad example on them. Many times from these negative influences
teenagers become more aggressive committing crime and having drugs.
These are generally what pop culture affects to
teenagers.
Now the next person, Ana, is going to talk about
Fashion.

Fashion - Ana Velez
Fashion is the popular style of clothes, hair and
also make-up that changes over the years. Clothing has become fun,
a fact quickly discovered by many others. There are many fun things
about 60’s, 70’s and today’s fashion. Fashion
from the 60’s, 70’s and today is very fun and is always
changing.
The biggest fashion change after the fifties came
in the rise of hemlines(the length of a dress and skirt). During
1963 hemlines were just above the knee, but the rise gained momentum
and popularity. By the end of 1965, skirts six inches above the
knee were not uncommon. The changing fashion did not go unnoticed.
Designers played with hemlines and women were excited to wear shorter
and shorter skirts and dresses. By 1967 the fashion changed again.
The mini skirt soon became the mini dress, which combined the ‘A’
line design. The ‘A’ line comes straight onto the hips
and ignores the fact that girls have a waist at all. Another popular
style in the 60’s was the trouser suits for women, which became
more popular and socially acceptable in the mid sixties. Shoes and
ankle boots became very popular also.
There are many clothing styles that were popular
during the seventies such as: Angel Flight Suits, Army Jackets,
Blue Jean Purses and Capris.
Today’s fashion, shoes
and styles are similar to the 60’s and 70’s fashion.
Now fashion has fewer rules, more creativity and endless possibilities.
Fashion today expresses the individual’s sense of styles.
Clothes, shoes, and styles can be conservative or sexy, dark or
bright, classic or funky.

Make-up - Ileana Reyes
There is a major difference between evening make
up and day make-up. Most people are finishing with the evening look.
This is not right. the major reason for this difference is lighting.
There are some women that don’t know how to put on make-up.
They wear some tones that don’t go with their skin color.
They wear a lot of color on their eyes and they don’t look
as good. If you are going out dancing in a night club, this is a
place where there is very little light so you will need to over
dramatize your make up for it to be seen by others. People that
perform in the theaters are another good example of what this means.
They must do their make-up almost like a clown so you can see it
with the stage lighting that shines on them. As you can see, people
used to wear make-up. In the 1950’s and 1960’s, people
wore simple and natural make-up. They never wore all this make-up.
They were so beautiful and natural that they didn’t need make-up.
TV people need all that because they are the most recognizable.
Now you can understand why you need make-up changes throughout the
day. If there were only one type of light, there would be need for
‘Day Make-Up’ and ‘Evening Make-Up.

Music - Pedro Rodriques
Well, you know Ileana friends and radio listener,
you can say that music pop culture originated in the 1960's, since
that is the timeline when most of the people were getting into modern
culture. Back then Rock and Roll was, you know, the music emerging
in the pop scene. Artist like Jimmy Hendrix, Elvis Presley, Little
Richard were some of the co-founders of the American Music Pop Culture.
Pop Culture has been like a tree that has emerged
into lots of different roots. Pop Culture has emerge into the likes
of Alternative, Country and Western, House, Industrial, Latin, Musicals,
Rap and Hip Hop, Reggae, Soul and RnB and Tejano. Some of the bands
that have perfected this genre of music have been the likes of Counting
Crows, Dave Mathews Band, David Bowie, Ani DiFranco, The Donnas,
Bob Dylan, Goo Goo Dolls, Tish Hinojosa, Sarah Mclachlan, Matchbox
20, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Public Enemy, Radiohead, Rage against the
Machine, Red hot Chili Peppers and the rolling stone.
To conclude, the scene of the musical pop culture
has been a culture that has carried all over Europe and across the
world. It started from the likes of Rock and Roll and has emerged
into the likes of Rap and Rock music and it has been on top of the
musical charts for over 3 decades. So with no further or do, I'll
like to bring back the host Horacio who is going to get into how
Pop Culture influenced T.V Horacio.

Tv and the conclusion
- Horacio Perez
TV is a very important issue when it comes to Pop
Culture; in fact, I can dare to say that consequently TV created
Pop Culture by bringing the different feelings into ourselves. For
instance, what makes us want a new dress or new shoes is mostly
because TV commercials, but it doesn’t stop there. Through
this media we can let our imagination rest and see in images what
might be good in books. For example, we can name Lord of the Rings,
which was a great hit. TV has changed a lot since its beginnings,
but we can say that it all started back in the 50’s when the
great Elvis appeared on the air for the first time, and so on through
the decades TV plays an important role in the development and changes
of Pop Culture. It has both good and bad influences especially on
teenagers.
Pop Culture is a social impact
that has different effects on people, but we certainly can’t
let it pass by without recognizing its importance on today’s
society. Thanks to the four experts. I am your host, Horacio and
this was The X-Plane. Stay tuned for the next presentation!
