Why I come to NY?

I am from Taipei Taiwan . It is a small island that is located on the east coast of China , Right on the Tropic of Cancer. The location is as same as Miami and Florida . So it is pretty hot down there. I lived with my grandmother, my parents and my sister.

My childhood was uneventful. After I gradated from high school, I was studying chemistry in college. My family felt that I should go into nursing because it is easy to find a job and get a good salary but I resisted. I thought that nursing was kind of a boring job. I was interested in chemistry until my grandmother suffered from diabetes. My family worried about her. That made me changes my perspective. I lived with my grandmother since I was born. We were very close. When she suffered from diabetes, I felt shame because I could not do anything for her. I did not have any medical knowledge. Even though I wanted to do something for her, I could not. I never felt so hopeless and I hated that feeling. So I decided to switch my major to nursing. I felt it made me a better person. Not only can I help my family, but I can also help other people. I never look back at the choice that I made, so I have no regrets.

I came to NY about two years. I came here to improve my English communication skills. This way, I can interact with my patients and put them at ease. I was a registered nurse in

Taipei , working with a lot of people whose primary language is English. So I thought if I came to NY and go to a college that my communication skills would improve immensely.

Now, I feel that my writing skill has improved, and my vocabulary has expanded. My oral skills have gotten better than before. For this, I thank my teachers and my fellow students.

I feel after all is said and done, m options to work as a registered nurse will be very open. I can return back to Taiwan or I can stay here to work. Although I have not decided what I will do, it is a comfort knowing the choice is up to me.
