What My Accent Doesn’t Tell You

I have been in the United States for two years. I live with my aunt’s family. They are very nice to me. I like to live with them. I haven’t seen my parents since leaving my hometown. I really miss them. We communicate with each other by phone. They always tell me to study hard. They want me to get a good education and a better life. English is my second language, and it is difficult to learn. In my free time, I like to read books and watch TV at home. I enjoy stories that have a happy ending. Also I like to listen to music. It makes me feel comfortable. And I work on the weekend, so I have to do my homework at night. I always go to bed until 1 o’clock. I feel tired at the weekend. Although life is hard in the United States, I never think to go back to China because I haven’t done the things I want to do. The education of China and the United States is totally different. I have a goal to be a lawyer. So I don’t want to give up studying. Studying is important to me and it could influence my future.

I go to the International High School. I have many friends in this school. We always play together. I have a lot of fun with them. I really like to stay with them. Teachers all treat me nicely. They help me a lot. They teach me how to study English well. When I have a difficult problem, they always explain it to me carefully. My English is gradually improving with their help. I also have an opportunity to take a college class. It is good for me to learn more things. I had practiced speech many times in the class. I get some experiences to make my speech well. I am happy that I study in this class. This is about my life in the United States. The life is nothing special, I am satisfied with my life in the United States
