listen to audio

Hi! My name is Fanny Alvarez. I interviewed my neighbor. I gave Luis a tape record and asked him to document his life and his job.

He told me his name is Luis Tello. He is from Ecuador. At the time I interviewed him; he was watching T.V. and playing the guitar. He lives in College Point, Queens and his favorite hobby is playing soccer and playing the guitar. He came to United States in 1992. He has two kids, his older son is Pablo, he is 7 years old and he has little girl. She is 4 years old. Her name is Nicole. His wife’s name is Katy.

He told me that his first job in this country was in a restaurant. He was a busboy. He became to work as waiter. Then he started working as a taxi driver for 4 years. Then he is been working in Real States. He said me that job is exiting. He told me that his job like so much. He loves because he is own boss. He can organize his time.

He said what he has to do in his job. He has to search houses for sell in the computer. Then he has to make an appointment then he goes to show the houses. If the buyers like a house he has to make an offer. If the seller agrees the price, terms and conditions. The next step is going to contract. Then start another procedure until it gets to the closing table.

He told me that he consider that there are 2 difficult things in his job. One is to find the right house for the buyer. The other is to negotiate the offer with the seller in order to sell a house. When is his listing one of the things that he does is to hold an open house for public. One of his goals is to open his own office and do some investments.
