My Story

...I am from Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic. I have 11 brothers and I am number 11. We were 12 brothers, but my brothers Carlos died. He was 22 years old. He died one year ago, but he is still with me. When I was a child I lived with my grandmother who was the stepmother of my mother. I lived with her because my parents came to live my parents came to live in New York. Then my grandmother died, and I lived with my brothers. After that I finished the high school and I started the university. It was my wonderful time and very fun because I lived something new, and I knew many friends and somebody special. But I could not finish the university because my mother wanted me to come to live here, so she did me the resident, and I had to live here. I asked her, “Why now? I feel good in Santa Domingo.” And then she said me, “It’s if you want to come.” But she asked me after she did everything. She spent money and time, and I couldn’t say no. I wanted to be with her. Sometimes my friends call me, and ask me when I will come back. They’re waiting for me. I think if I go back to my country and finish my education, this is good, but I have to have a permit for a limited time to stay in my country. If I study in my country, I won’t work here. I want to study here and I will go back to my country and work there. However, I’m going to continue to study.

My Dream House

...I was studying architectural design in my country, Dominican Republic. I like architectural design, especially interior design, but I didn’t study interior design because I like architecture too. I can do both kinds of work. With architectural design I think that I have more liberty because I can create the project from the first moment. I had very good instructors who are very good architects. I miss them very much and I miss my university.
...I would like to have a beautiful house. This house has to have each detail because it will be my dream home. I like colonial style, so I would like that my house will be a colonial house. Also, it will be a modern house because I would like to mix. I want my house to be built in a big land near to the beach or the river. It will also have many trees where I can listen to musical songs made by birds.
...I don’t want a big house, but I want a comfortable house. This house will have two floors so I am going to describe the first floor. I want to have an interior garden with many different flowers, like a colonial house. It will have a porch all around the house with ionic columns. In the front it will have a door made out of wood. I want big windows so the sun’s light can get into some space in the house while never interfering with the views and let in the breeze. I want open spaces that don’t have walls, but each space can identify with its own characteristics. It will have different high floor in order to have two levels. In the living area I want a lower level. The first floor will be made of Italian tiles. It will have great looks. In the kitchen I would like the cabinet to be made of glass and wood and a marble counter. The stove, refrigerator, sink, microwave and other things will be stainless steel. The stairs will have a glass banister. Upstairs I would like to have a small living area, but when I am going to the upstairs I’ll see it. Also, it will be an open space where I can see the balcony and the balcony will be large, so I can look a different way to the interior garden and outside. Finally, I do not know how many bedroom I will have because I do not know how many children I will have, but I want four unless my boyfriend wants two. However, I want comfortable rooms and well decorated. The study is going to be a relaxing place because in this space I am going to have a beautiful view to a beach or river.
...It’s my dream home, but my mind is clearer. I hope that you like it.
