Italian Food

...Every time somebody talks about food, the first thing he thinks about is Italian food. Not because I am Italian, but just because this kind of food now is one of the most famous foods in the world. Now every place people go for lunch, the find dishes like pizza, pasta, lasagna, or meatball.
...In Italy the dishes are different. In every region there are a lot of specials. Naples is famous for pizza and believe me, pizza over there is different. Genoa is famous for pesto. Toscany for meat and red wine.
...My region is Abruzzo. It is situated in the middle of Italy on the Adriatic Coast and over there you find a lot of specials. Pasta e fagioli is a pasta in small size (half rigatoni) with tomato sauces, onion and beans. This dish is very easy to make. Before you cook, just for a minute, put the onion in the oil. After that, you put inside the tomato sauce and cook for 30 minutes. When the sauce is ready, you start to cook the pasta. And when everything is ready, you put everything together and leave to cook for a couple of minutes.
...About pizza, maybe everybody knows how to make it. A lot of people love pizza, especially because it is very easy to find. There are many kinds of pizza and to make it you need just a few minutes.
...Something really important to know is that Italian food is not the same food you find in New York City. If you want to eat the real Italian pasta, you never put inside chicken or meat. Pasta is just sauce and there are a million kinds of sauces.

A Typical Day in My Job

...I will try to write something about a typical day in my job. My job is beautiful and crazy. I’m a horse drawn cab driver. I drive horses in a carriage in Central Park.
I started this job because I have some friends who do this job and also because I love animals, especially horses. The stable is situated in 38th between 10th and 11th Avenues. I usually start at 9:30 a.m., but I like to go to the stable at 8:30 a.m. When I arrive at the stable, I need to check everything in the carriage. For example, if I need to fix something, if it is dirty, I need to clean and then check the horse. I don’t work everyday with the same horse. I usually have two; one works and the other rests. When everything is okay, I put the horse in the carriage and I go in Central Park. During the day, I take customers in the Park. When we are in traffic I need too much attention because the horses are scared of everything like trucks, cars and plastic bags. When I take customers, I go inside the park. I have different rides, 20-40 –60 minute rides. When I’m inside the Park, I explain everything about the Park, history, monuments and places.
...I usually work with tourists from everywhere—Europe, South America and Asia. I think my job is really interesting because I meet many people. I am outside and I spend all the time with the horses. I love horses. They are big, but inside they are children and need love. My shift is 9 hours, but when I come back to the stable, I like to spend time with the horse. I give him a shower and I check if everything is okay.
