My Story

I have been living in New York City for 1 year, and I have had the opportunity to know American Culture. My dream is to learn English. After that, I want to study nursing. My doughter has a good school she needs Special Education. I want the best for her because she is an American Citizen, and she has the right to have therapy and sports in school. The people have a fast life, so they lost a connection to family. Every day I watch only the news on tv, but that news has only violence. When I am walking on the strret, I have observed the children, the elderly and the young people fight all the time. The traffic is very heavy in the morning. The subway always is crowded. There is much noise on the street, but I think that The United States of America offers many opportunities for foreigners, for example, I have a job, and I have health bebefits. The education for my doughter is free.My conclusion is that rain or shine, we have to be a good citizen with USA.at last, I can’t go back to Colombia, because we have many problems political.
The first is the terrorism.

EDUCATION

Special Education
The Special Education in New York City is very different than in my country COLOMBIA, When the children are mentally retarded or have other type of disease that hinders the normal development her, there are two facets.

PHYSICAL PHYSICIAN
The physical physician does the evaluation all the movements to the legs, arms, and head. He determines the cause by means of tests.

THE PSYCHOLOGY
The children are evaluated in their Education Level. They receive language and occupational therapy. After that they choose the school.

THE SCHOOL
There are excellent teachers that teach elementary education. The teachers care for the health and hygiene of the children.
