My Story

...My name is Telmo Paguay. I am 28 years old. I was born in Ecuador, and I was raised by two beautiful persons. Those are my mother and my father. I went to school. After that, I was studying in the college at night time and in the day I used to work. When I was 18, I came to the USA. Now I live with my family many years. I work in construction. At night I am studying ESL at LaGuardia Community College. I want to learn English to get a better position in my job.

My Favorite Movie and Actress

...I took my favorite movie and my favorite actress. The actress’ name is Jennifer Lopez. She was born on July 24, 1970 in New York’s Bronx. When she was young, since she can remember, she had a dream. It was to be a famous actress. She used to participate in all programs what the school used to do. She loved the experience and then she wanted so much. She starred at the Manhattan Dance Studio when she was 17. She worked very hard to help her dreams come true. It was very hard for her but she never quit. She posed for a lot of things and she made a few movies. She wasn’t very famous until 1997. She got her really big break by being selected to play the lead in the film about the murdered singer Selena’s life. That’s when she started to be very famous.
...Nowadays, she’s one of the most famous actresses in the USA. The Selena movie is my favorite. Selena was born in Corpus Christy,Texas. Her parents are from Mexico. They used to have a restaurant. One day after work her father was playing the guitar, and Selena was next to him. She started to sing with her father. At that time her father heard her voice, and he said, “It’s perfect.” After that, he started to buy instruments to make a band. His wife was saying, “Are you crazy?” He started a small band with his kids even if they didn’t like it. Every day they used to practice. The kids never liked it. They hated the band and they wanted to play as any other kid of their age. What her father wanted was to start the band as soon as possible, and then the band can sing in his restaurant. He thought with the band more people were going to come.
...A few years later Selena started to like it. She was doing very good. Everybody started to know her. She was a popular singer. When she was on the top of her career, she got killed.
...Those two persons, Jennifer Lopez and Selena, mean a lot for me because they worked so hard to make their dreams come true. I think everybody should do whatever we have to do to make our dreams come true. Never give up. Keep working hard. Just like that we can do whatever we want because life sometimes is very hard, and we have to deal with it. That’s what I’m going to do now, and I will do for ever ever ever.
