DAY TWO Henxley is in the office when HSW enters, and wishes her well in her new job. He agrees to help her set up her office in a workable way. Henxley brings up the necessity of diagnosing clients, which HSW finds strange, since none of the workers are psychiatrists. Henxley downplays the problem; he diagnoses clients himself all the time. A new client, Ms. Jones, enters. She describes a complicated family situation, where she does not feel safe. HSW tries to get Ms. Jones to report her stepfather for abusing her son, which Ms. Jones reluctantly does. She wants to become officially homeless, so that she can get her own apartment. HSW helps her find out the information through consulting the Cares Directory. She finds the name of a shelter in the Directory, and calls the shelter for Ms. Jones. While HSW is trying to work this out, Frank comes by to provide information about what the shelter will be like. Then Frank makes a personal comment about how she is dressed. Ms. Jones agrees to go the the Emergency Assistance Unit. Wilma happens by, providing some further information about the EUA, and suggests that the Worker go to visit it. Betsy is also around. She explains the organizational context for the agency. HSW brings up Frank's unfortunate comment. Betsy doesn't have much to say, but Wilma, who comes in a few minutes later, strongly suggests that HSW make an official complaint. She also reminds HSW to give her name when she talks with someone from another agency, as well as to get the other worker's name.
