DAY FIVE HSW is greeted by Henxley as she comes in the door. He reminds her that her intake form on Ms. Gustan is still not in. She calls Ms. Gustan, who tries to cooperate, but the call has interrupted her going-away party. Henxley accepts what HSW has added, and they discuss how forms are dictated by funding sources. Frank interrupts their conversation, and explains to HSW how requirements change as circumstances change. Mr. and Ms. Finstrow, a couple with a conflict, come in to see HSW. They are speaking harshly about one another. The issues are Mr. Finstrow's drinking and his tendency to punish the children physically. HSW plays a mediator role, getting them to talk directly to each other, rather than complaining to her. She then gets them to identify the issues that are related to their conflict, and how they would like each other to behave. She has them draw up a contract to work on together. As the Finstrows leave, Betsy comes by quickly. HSW spots a bruise on her face, and Betsy confesses that her boyfriend has been beating her up. Betsy asks her not to tell anyone. Joan comes by to check on the progress of HSW's rolodex. Joan compliments HSW on the beginning that she has made at the agency.
