Assessment
Course Requirements
You will be given a Mid-Term and Final Exam both of which will
be posted here and made available according to the schedule for
the quarter.
You are required to post at least one comment per week in the Communication
folder and respond to one of your classmates' postings. Your comments
must be language appropriate, related to the topic and reflective.
Use the questions in each author's communication section as a guideline.
Writing is an important part of this reading class. You must electronically
submit four essays which will be posted in an online Student Essay
folder. The topics and guidelines for these essays will be discussed
in class.
Preparation for class is essential. It increases your ability to
engage in meaningful class discussions and encourages reflection.
Your involvement in class discussions will contribute to determining
your final grade.
Attendance is mandatory for all your classes. If you are absent,
please email me or a classmate to get the day's assignment. At the
end of the quarter, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance
if you have attended a minimum of 80% of all your classes. If you
have attended less than 80% of all your classes, you will be put
on probation. If your attendance is less than 80% of all classes
for two quarters, you will not be allowed to register for classes
at The English Language Center. If you are not certain how many
classes you have missed, ask your instructors.
Learning a language can be a very enjoyable and positive process.
It requires time and effort in order to maximize the progress you'll
make. Use your time wisely and enjoy learning English.
