As National Learning Communities Fellow: Participated in Annual Learning Communities Institutes for faculty developing learning communities nationwide; conducted site visits to colleges upon request; wrote essays for Monograph Series; participated in national conferences; developed local network for open houses and retreats for learning community faculty. As New Faculty Seminar Coordinator: Organized a year-long professional development seminar to orient new faculty to the college: conducted sessions on a wide range of pedagogical topics including collaborative learning, problem based learning, learning community history and practice. As Teaching Portfolio Seminar Coordinator: Engaged a team of faculty in a year-long professional development that included building teaching portfolios describing collaborative and diversity work (See website: www.lagcc.cuny.edu/tps). As Associate Director, LaGuardia Teaching and Learning Center: Coordinated and conducted college-wide initiatives in professional development including pedagogy, diversity and technology workshops; project director for various grant funded professional development projects involving in-house workshops, worked with individual departments to assess professional development needs; organized seminars led by national leaders in professional development for LaGuardia faculty. As Co-coordinator of Writing in the Disciplines Initiative: Co-wrote initial grant for the project; conducted master seminars for faculty developing Writing Intensive Courses in the Disciplines. As Co-Director of Composition: Administered Composition Program’s three writing courses, Basic Writing, English Composition and Writing Through Literature including dissemination of procedural memos, organization and administration of exams, coordination with library for student orientations, coordination with registrar and ESL division for student placement and coordination with Writing Center for student tutoring; reviewed departmental policies, curriculum guidelines and standards in the writing courses, mentored new faculty and organized professional development workshops for full and part-time faculty. As Learning Communities Coordinator: organized meetings and professional development workshops in support of clusters, pairs and houses; guided and coordinated faculty efforts in creating new learning communities; developed assessment measures for learning communities; met regularly with department chairs and administration to evaluate learning communities; designed and maintained learning communities website: www.lagcc.cuny.edu/lc.
