Course Description in college catalog:

The following courses offer group instruction in various musical instruments and voice for both the music major and the community. Students will supply their own instruments, with the exception of the piano and the larger percussion and string instruments. These courses may not be applied to the liberal arts and sciences core for the A.A. or A.S. degree.

7. Fluently performing 2 pieces from the classical and/or popular repertoire

Prepare students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution of higher learning to pursue a career in music by providing a solid foundation in the areas of musicianship and performance.

Provide the general college students with the opportunities to study music in a variety of classes that promotes intellectual inquiry, global awareness and lifelong active learning.

Methods by which student learning will be assessed and evaluated; describe the types of methods to be employed; note whether certain methods are required for all sections:

I. Class participation and assignments: 30% (you will be graded 2 times on prepared (playing) homework assignments (each assignment is 15% of your grade). Make sure to come to class ready to play assigned pieces and exercises.

II. Exams: 70% (tests 50% (25% each); final recital 20%). Final recital will take place during the finals week. Day and time will be scheduled by the Registrar.
