I-20 Applications

Incoming freshmen and transfer students may submit their I-20 applications to Queensborough's Single Sign-on portal for review. Please monitor our website and/or your email for any updates. Students can apply for an I-20 as soon as they register for classes. The application window closes on the following dates:

Academic Advisement for Continuing International Students

Students can schedule an in-person or virtual appointment via their Navigate360 account. Students will receive an email containing the link that provides access to the meeting when the session is scheduled to begin. For assistance with academic software or access to your student accounts, you may contact our Helpdesk (718-631-6348).  

Academic Advisement for New International Students

New students who are admitted will be invited to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.  You will receive an email inviting you to schedule an appointment to meet one-on-one with an Academic Advisor who will assist you with the following:

• Reviewing your major
• Selecting your schedule and register you for your first semester courses
• Discussing any questions you may have about QCC

International Travel – Continuing Students

Students who have a continued attendance I-20 and plan to depart the U.S. must obtain a DSO travel signature on their I-20 if they do not have a signature that is dated within twelve months of their intended date of return. Emergency Preparedness Resources for International Students 

While studying in the United States, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security understands that international students could potentially face emergency situations while attending their SEVP-certified school. It’s important that F and M students maintain their nonimmigrant student status, even during a possible emergency event. This means that F and M students should take all the necessary actions to remain in status and communicate with their designated school official (DSO) for emergency plans on their campus. Students should also visit Study in the States’ blog post, “Be Prepared: Emergency Preparedness Resources” for more resources surrounding emergency preparedness. 

We also encourage readers to contact their DSO with any questions, or in the event of an emergency, call 911 if they are in danger. Students can also call the SEVP Response Center (SRC). The SRC is available to serve as their point of contact and provide emergency contact services during disruptions. Frauds and Scams

SEVP has been advised about an uptick in scams involving imposters imitating ICE officials or making it appear that the call is coming from SEVP. These imposters are using government contact information to extort money from stakeholders, including international students. ICE recently put out a public safety alert on its website to alert and remind stakeholders about how to avoid immigration-related scams. Individuals who encounter such fraud are strongly encouraged to report it to the Federal Trade Commission.

Mission Statement

The Center focuses on the academic, social and professional development of F1 visa students, Dream scholars, and Global Citizenship Alliance study abroad participants. The Center assists students in achieving their academic goals while maintaining their legal status during their course of study at Queensborough Community College. The Center provides F1 visa students with professional development workshops and opportunities for intercultural exchange in classrooms and communities throughout the year. The Center assists DREAM scholar recipients in achieving their academic goals and engages them in professional development and community building activities. The Center promotes CUNY study abroad programs and scholarship opportunities, and provides study abroad program advisement and application assistance. We promote and administer the Global Citizenship Alliance (GCA) study abroad and leadership program. We also develop the comprehensive pre-departure training course for the GCA program. The Center also organizes immigration events for the campus and local community.
