Dr. Linda Bastone is the Dean of Faculty in the Office of Academic Affairs. In this role, Dr. Bastone works collaboratively with college constituents to provide oversight to faculty recruitment and appointment, lead faculty development efforts, support faculty and undergraduate research efforts, and assist faculty with the tenure and promotion process.

Dr. Bastone received a BA in Psychology and Philosophy from Binghamton University, SUNY and a PhD in Social and Personality Psychology from the CUNY Graduate Center. She began her academic career in 1991 as a member of the psychology faculty at Purchase College, SUNY. At Purchase, Dr. Bastone held various administrative positions, including Chair of Psychology and Director of the School of Natural and Social Sciences. She also served as Principal Investigator and Project Director on student training and mentoring grants funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Association of Colleges and Universities, and the American Psychological Association. Dr. Bastone’s accomplishments were recognized by SUNY with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. In 2021, Dr. Bastone joined Mercy University as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs. In that role, she oversaw faculty hiring, development, review, and recognition efforts and supervised the directors of the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Center for Academic Excellence and Innovation. In 2024, Dr. Bastone joined the Office of Academic Affairs at Queensborough. 

Throughout her career as a faculty member and administrator, Dr. Bastone has focused on understanding and addressing inequities in higher education. She has conducted research, published, and presented on ways to increase access, equity, and excellence in higher education and the efficacy of high impact practices implemented in classrooms, summer bridge programs, peer mentoring initiatives, and mentored research experiences.
