Visitor Parking & Parking on Campus

Visitors to campus should enter and must register with the Public Safety officer at the Main Gate (Lot #1) on 56th Avenue. The Public Safety officer will direct visitors to parking, if available. We regret we cannot guarantee parking to any visitor. Parking is also available on the street, however, visitors are advised to follow all NYC parking rules and regulations

For your safety and convenience, for the convenience and safety of others, and in order not to jeopardize your parking privileges, please read and comply strictly with the parking and traffic regulations described in this page.

Although parking on campus is limited, registered QCC students are eligible to park on campus on a space available basis. Students will need to use their TigerCard to pay* for daily parking for use in Lots 2 & 6.

Students may also park in Lot 1 after 5:00 p.m. with your TigerCard.

Lots 1, 3 & 4 are for Faculty & Staff only.

*Parkers will pay the fee from funds deposited into their TigerBucks account. Deposit funds to your TigerBucks and Dining Dollars accounts online or at a TigerCard station in the Library, Administration Building, or Student Union. You can also deposit funds to your Dining Dollars account in the Science Cafe. Get your new TigerCard in the Library Building, Room LB-02.

Hang-tag Parking Permits

Hang-tag parking permits can be purchased and renewed annually at the TigerCard Office by faculty and staff members only.

Parking permits for 2024 are now available for purchase in the  TigerCard Office, Room LB-02 or may be renewed on-line or over the phone.

Faculty and staff receive a renewable tag that operates the Main Lot and the rear-parking gate (by Enfield Place) automatically. Upon payment, we will re-activate your existing tag for access for the academic year.

For your convenience, we also accept Check or Money Order payments via mail (Please send to: Queensborough TigerCard Office, 222-05 56 th Ave., Room LB-02, Bayside N.Y. 11364) and credit card payments on-line, in person or over the phone.

The following is required to purchase or renew a permit:

  1. You must login and complete the online application
    If you are unable to login please contact the Technology Support and Service Center at 718-631-6348.

  2. After completing the online application you may:

    • Pay for your tag renewal in the TigerCard Office LB-02 with a Credit Card, Check or Money Order payable to Queensborough Community College in the amount of $175 for automobiles; $50 for motorcycles. CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Please write your EMPLID in the memo area of your check/money order. After payment is collected your existing tag will be re-activated. Payment for renewals may also be made by credit card on-line when completing the application.

    • Pay by Credit Card over the phone – call the TigerCard Office at 718 631-6626. Once we have confirmed the payment, we will re-authorize your existing tag.

      * If applying for a new or replacement tag you will need to visit the TigerCard Office in person to complete the transaction and pick up your tag. Be sure to complete the on-line application before your visit.

Please note the effective date for the parking permit will be September 2024 through August 2025. All parking fines must be satisfied before your parking privileges are renewed.


Parking permit holders agree to abide by Queensborough Community College Parking & Traffic Control Regulations.  A parking permit serves as permission to park on campus and  does not guarantee a parking space .

Display permit from rear-view mirror with numbered colored side facing out whenever parked on campus. Remove permit before vehicle is in motion.  This permit is not valid for handicapped areas, unless displayed with a valid NY State Handicapped permit or plate.  Ownership of permit remains with the college and is  NOT transferable to other persons or vehicles.

Report theft or loss immediately. Replacement of permit will be made at registrant’s/purchaser’s expense ($25.00).

WARNING: Prosecution and/or fine will result from theft, possession and/or unauthorized use of the permit.

Fees

Annual Hangtag: $175.00
Replacement Hangtag: $25.00

Motorcycle Hangtag: $50.00

Motorcycle parking is restricted to Lot 1 only.

Note: Refunds will not be made under any circumstances.

Parking and Traffic Regulations

All vehicles must make a full stop at all campus entrances and exits.

All vehicles are to be operated on campus with extreme caution and are not to exceed the maximum speed limit of 10 mph.

Pedestrians have the right of way at all times.

All vehicles will also yield to Public Safety vehicles, service vehicles and all snow removal equipment when appropriate.

Damage to an Unoccupied Vehicle
A driver causing any damage to an unoccupied vehicle is required to report same to the Department of Public Safety immediately.

Public Safety Instructions
No person shall fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of any public safety officer or other person duly empowered to regulate traffic.

Traffic Signs
Every person shall obey the instructions of all traffic-control devices and signs (stop, speed limit, no parking, handicapped, etc.) at all times.

Parking is prohibited on roadways, in fire zones, adjacent buildings or in any area not officially designated as a Parking Zone.

Drivers are required to park their vehicles within the lines of demarcation and only in their designated areas (faculty/staff, student, etc.)

Overnight Parking
Overnight parking is prohibited except in emergencies and/or with express permission of the Department of Public Safety.

Snow Emergency
In the event of winter storms where vehicles cannot be safely driven from campus, every effort should be made to move said vehicles to the outer edges of the parking lots in order to facilitate snow removal.

Temporary Use of Alternate Vehicle
If your primary vehicle is temporarily out of service, please contact the Department of Public Safety for appropriate instructions.

Faculty/Staff Parking
No student parking is permitted in the areas designated solely for faculty and staff.

Handicapped Parking
A limited number of parking spaces are reserved for handicapped parking. Vehicles parked in these spaces must have either a valid NYS handicapped permit or plate and a QCC parking permit.

Authorized Visitor Parking Area
These parking spaces are for temporary authorized visitor parking only.

Enforcement

In order to ensure safety, Campus Peace Officers are charged with the enforcement of traffic and parking regulations on campus. Violators will be subject to summonses and fines.

PENALTIES

During any one semester or summer session, penalties for parking infractions are generally as follows:

  • 1st violation $25.00
  • $35 if not paid in 10 business days;
  • $50 if not paid in 30 days

Additional Penalties:

Reckless Driving

  • $25.00 fine
  • Cancellation of parking privileges for a period to be determined
  • Possible campus disciplinary action

Campus Speed Limit
Any person exceeding the posted speed limit of 10 mph will be subject to the penalties listed under “Reckless Driving” as indicated above.

Non-Registered Vehicle

  • $25.00 fine
  • Vehicle subject to towing

Unauthorized or Expired Hangtag

  • $25.00 fine
  • Any student involved will be referred to the Dean of Students for appropriate disciplinary action.

Theft, Possession or Use of Lost or Stolen Hangtag

WARNING: Prosecution and/or fine will result from theft, possession and/or unauthorized use of the permit.

  • $100.00 fine
  • In addition, any student involved will be referred to the Dean of Students for appropriate disciplinary action.

Fraudulent or Counterfeit Hangtag

WARNING: Prosecution and/or fine will result from possession and/or unauthorized use of a fraudulent or counterfeit permit.

  • $100.00 fine
  • In addition, any student involved will be referred to the Dean of Students for appropriate disciplinary action.

Payment of Fines

Fines are payable at the Bursar’s Office in Room 118 of the Administration Building.

Fill out the bottom portion of the summons with your name and address.

Make your check payable to Queensborough Community College.

Remit payment in person or by mail.

Fines are to be paid within 10 days of date of violation, or an additional late fee of $10.00 will be imposed.

Persons failing to pay fine(s) may be subject to loss of parking privileges.

Students will have a “hold” placed on their records (grades, transcript, diploma etc.) and will not be permitted to register for subsequent semester(s) for failure to pay. Students may also be referred to the Dean of Students for disciplinary action.

Appeals

Persons may appeal a parking violation by writing to the Director of Public Safety via US Mail only within 10 calendar days of the date of the summons.

Students wishing to appeal the decision of the Director of Public Safety may send an appeal to the VP for Student Affairs within 10 days of the date of the notice of decision. The decision of the VP for Student Affairs is final.
