The College Now Program at Queensborough Community College enables high school students to sample college life while still in high school. The College Now liaison at each school will review the grades of interested students and talk to guidance counselors or teachers who know the students to determine their qualifications. Check with your high school liaison for eligibility.

Yes, but not for all courses— some are for high school credit and some are non-credit prerequisites for college classes.

Students can get a head start on their college career by taking college preparatory courses. Students who take these courses can improve their skills while still in high school and be better prepared to take on college-level work.

In most cases, College Now credits will transfer within the CUNY system. Credits may transfer to colleges outside the CUNY system. Students should check with the colleges to which they are applying regarding credit transfer policies. Students must request an official transcript from the QCC Registrar.

High school students can take up to 16 credits before graduation. This 12-credit limit applies not only to credits earned at QCC’s College Now Program, but includes credits earned through any combination of CUNY’s College Now Programs.

College Now courses and workshops are taught by college instructors from Queensborough Community College and by high school teachers selected and approved by appropriate college departments to teach as college adjuncts. The program provides specialized professional development opportunities.

Unless the program is required at a particular high school, students are not obligated to re-enroll in the program. However, most students generally participate for many semesters.

Can I drop a College Now Course?
Students are expected to complete all courses for which they register. Withdrawal is a serious matter and should only be considered after consultation with the instructor and liaison. When withdrawing from a specific course, the student must complete an official withdrawal form that is signed by the instructor and given to the high school liaison. Official withdrawals must be completed and submitted to the QCC College Now Office by the deadline date stipulated in the College Now calendar.

No. College Now is absolutely free for all participating students. There are no tuition or book fees.
